We like:
- the overall look
- the way the film title works on the cover
- the impact of the main photo
- a lot of the formal features - the masthead, cover line etc
We will work on:
- the text - colour choices need work
- choice of language and layout for text
- layout of smaller images
- adding a light source to make main image stand out more
Poster
We like:
- the overall layout
- the tagline
- strong main image
- the colour palette and overall look / feel
We will work on:
- making the X stand out a bit more
- choice of image for 'blog' on computer screen
Trailer
Music and sound remix - we have been working on this but it still isn't right.
Snappiness of images - we can still trim down a little more
Mixing the right sound track
We like:
- the basic order / structure
- the clarity of the narrative (we hope)
- the sense of pace at the end
We will work on:
- formal elements - end credits, title slide, ident, intertitles
- sound mix
- non-diegetic music
- rebalancing elements at end - Jess on phone section
- dramatic ending - needs enhancing through music
1. Magazine cover - really good so far although there's loads of text. The X needs to stand out more, maybe it can be lit up / glow? I also don't know why sophisticated reviews would sell a magazine, that seems a bit weird. but good so far!
ReplyDelete2. Poster - I really like this, very effective. I think the title merges in a bit at the bottom, I would get rid of the shadow and make the whole title glow more, especially the X. A good image on the computer will really make this poster. What's the backwards writing in the glasses?!
3. Trailer - Wow, you're doing really well!I love it so far! Well done! I'm guessing the titles are just ideas at the moment? Really good music at the end will help too. The only bit I'm not sure about is why the girl phones him from a public phone box and then texts him straight away? I prefer the phone box shots. Some dialogue needs to be louder but this will be amazing! Good luck! Maia
I like this, it already looks like a real trailer and when you get the music right at the end it will be even better. I think you have good pace and don't need any more shots, you just need to adjust a bit. I agree with Maia the phone thing is weird.
ReplyDeleteI think the background on your magazine cover is a bit dark and doesn't seem to have much to do with the film, why not make the whole page a computer screen or something? The background of some text needs more smudging like you did for Tarantino and it seems a bit spaced out on that side.
The poster is really good, just needs finishing.

Your starman thing - lol! It does cut off quite quickly though, you need to freeze on the name of the company a bit. Great work though!
ReplyDeleteI think your trailer is really, really good and almost finished. I can't tell if your intertitles are serious? But it's so good and the story is clear.
The poster is nearly finished too, it does merge round the bottom and I agree that taking the shadow out and adding a glow would work as the X will stand out more and it might look more like a computer screen glow. But it's really effective, I like the simple colours.
The magazine is good too but you need to work on the text. I don't know if the background is too dark or the characters aren't light enough? I agree the genre isn't that clear.

Think you're doing well but you've cut out a piece of the guys hair on the magazine and I agree that most sophisticated reviews doesn't sound right.

Mix up font on magazine cover and don't centre. Like colours but need something more to say genre and look more actiony. Poster good, just needs finishing. text in glasses - should we be able to read it? Or is it a tease? Good trailer, you can make this look really good if you finish all the little details. Agree the starman thing cuts off but its funny.

very good so far, if your going to put a reflection in the glasses it would be better a picture and only a bit of text. the picture behind should be the girl and the other two characters like hes researching them.

I like your idea and everything looks good so far, I agree with what you say under each bit about what you need to work on, so as long as you stick to the plan and have enough time to do everything, you should be ok.

Trailer is good, maybe some shots at end a bit dark? But overall good and music will add to that. Agree with what others have said about mag cover. Poster is good too, agree that you need to make more of the reflection in the glasses as this is a really good idea, also Anonymus X glowing / standing out more.

This is good and flows very well. I get the trailer. Starman should pause and not cut off so quick after the voice. Music at end needs doing. Good trailer.

Trailer 1. good so far, i think the story is very clear and you obvliousy put a lot of work in. I agree with other people that the 2 phones doesn't make sense and i wasn't sure about the alien either.

I like the idea of the lit up / glowing anonymus X, you should do that. And the reflection in the glasses bigger and on his cheek. I like the trailer, if oyu find really dramatic music for the end.

I agree with what the guys said, this is a really good trailer and will be excellent when you finish. Thought the shot of ET was funny but didn't really get why it was there. Like the ending, the blog being deleted, you need a sound or something under that.
ReplyDeleteI prefer the poster to the magazine cover, think you need to make your genre more obvious on the mag cover and it's too dark. Like the poster though, it would make me want to watch the film, interested to see what you choose for the picture on the computer.
