Further Work on Film Outline

Anonymous X - Plot Outline

•        In a school spookily like JOA, a sixth former with journalistic tendencies runs a secret blog, Anonymous X.

•        The blog is full of the gossip that nobody wants uncovered – secrets and scandals etc.

•        Many of the teachers want to shut the blog down. Some students do too, if they have had secrets revealed.

•        The bloggers best friend is a photographer – he has helped him out on the blog before.

•        The photographer takes and publishes a photo that shows someone (teacher? Student?) doing something they shouldn’t be doing. It’s published on the blog, but the person who has been caught out remembers the photographer taking the photo and confronts him.(Do they also think he might be the blogger?)

•        The photographer’s girlfriend disappears – we see her being taken away in the boot of a car. The initial suspicion is that this is connected in some way with the photographer – done to punish him.

•        The photographer and the blogger work together to find out what happened

•        They come up with two or three suspects

•        They soon suspect a teacher at school is behind the disappearance (maybe the Head?) because they see him doing something dodgy to school records / deleting her profile

•        They ask a loner who happens to be a hacker to help. He says no.

•        A rumour starts that the hacker is behind the disappearance / murder. I’m not sure how this starts. Maybe the Anonymous X blog goes quiet for a while because the two are investigating and a rival blog is set up which suggests the hacker is the murderer? Maybe the teacher is behind this?

•        The hacker is attacked because everyone believes the rumours. This changes his mind and he decided to help the other two.

•        Possibly there might be a developing tension between the photographer and the blogger? Maybe the hacker starts to wonder if one of them is actually behind it? And persuades the other friend that it could be true?

•        The journalist is kidnapped – wakes up in a room with another body – we can’t see who it is.

Issues / Questions

•        How will the trailer create tension? What do we need to reveal and what should we conceal?

•        Is there some kind of big twist?

•        Is the girlfriend in on it?

•        What is the Head actually up to?

•        Would it be better for the hacker to be kidnapped? Leaves the journalist the task of rescuing him?
