Rough Ideas for Promotional Campaign - Michael

My Promotional Campaign

First teaser trailer (20th Sep 2012)
We will release a short teaser trailer for our film, this will be less than 30 seconds long and show the title of the film. Our film is based on a popular novel, so a lot of people will recognize it just from the title.

First Character poster (29th Sep 2012)
This poster will be of the first of the 3 main character posters to be released. This poster will show the photographer who will be recognizable to the people familiar with the story. These poster will primarily only in cinemas to begin.

Author’s Interview (3rd Oct 2012)
The creator of the books will be on a chat show, talking about his books as well as the adaptation to film. The interview with the author will allow for people to see his views on the films progress and probably what kind of involvement he will have. Such as “executive consultant”

Second Character poster (14th Oct 2012)
The second Character poster will show off a more popular character to increase interest in the film. As well as a more famous actor, well known for other roles to increase the audience to his fan base.

Second teaser trailer (22th Nov 2012)
This trailer will show actual footage from the film, the audience will be able to see the characters in action. This trailer will be a little bit longer than the first but still not show off much storyline wise, but people will then see this in cinemas before there films and on TV breaks so awareness for the film will grow.

Website Launch (8th Dec 2012)
This will be launch with a link to the main blog of the main character. This will be used to increase the films Internet presence as well as more major fan being able to enjoy extended world of the film. The website will only for now have basic information such as on the trailers and release dates and some images, this will grow as we get closer to the premier. This blog will have stories and gossip from the film world getting closer to the story’s events as we get closer to the film.

Final Character poster (4th Jan 2013)
This character poster will show the most popular character in the film, most likely with the most popular actor taking up the role. People will be interested in his appearance and how similar he is to the books version. He will probably have signature prop or item that will be show as well.

Twitter and Facebook, Social media (7th Jan 2013)
These will launch a few days after the latest teaser poster so that people can discuss the film as well as talk to people working on it through twitter a Public Relations department will be in charge of the social networking, and will release small bits of information about the film and keep the internet interested.

Rival Blog released  (27th Jan 2013)
This will be related to the main blog and found again through the main website and also Twitter and Facebook, it will release rival stories to the main blog and people with knowledge of the film will be very interested in.

Final Poster (12th Feb 2013)
This poster will have the main characters all together posing and will be shown in a lot more place then just the cinemas. Also a similar version of this poster but design for billboards will be out as well on major roads to attract more viewers.

Final teaser Trailer (2nd March 2013)
This will be more widely shown with similar content as the second with more dialog and story. This trailer will be shown on from now on until the main trailer is released and will be showing off the final character shown in the final teaser poster in a quick few action shots.

Magazine (19th April 2013)
This will be released before the major trailer and show off the film in depth. It will involve interview with the cast and director, shots from on set and the prediction. This is a good way to improve popularity of the film and the characters will be posing on the front cover.

Trailer (12th May 2013)
Finally the main trailer will be released this will be around 3 to 4 minutes long, involve lots of fast cutting action, also the main plot is summarized through overlaying dialog. This trailer will been shown more frequently and on more media forms. The major public will be aware of this film now.

Interviews (1st to 25th June 2013)
The cast will be on various different chat shows such as “The Jonathan Ross show” in which they will talk about the film and their experiences. This will be a random dates through June when the show is on. The director will also be having interviews in which he talks about the challenges adapting the book and how he handles some of the scenarios.

Premiere (11th July 2013)
The film will premiere in London where all the actors, the director, the author will attend. As well as just random famous people invited to see the film. This will be a huge press event and increase the films popularity.

Film Release (12th July 2013)
The film is finally released (on Friday) to the major public with midnight screenings to the really eager fans of the franchise.  Then we wait and see how it did that weekend on the box office and leave the film in the cinema for about a month or so.
